We appreciate everyone who helped restore Overbrook water!

3/1/2021

Did you know there are five water main breaks during the deep freeze? Wow! Here’s how Overbrook is thanking all those involved.
The City has sent personal thank-you cards to everyone who helped in this effort. Statements of appreciation will be included in the Overbrook monthly newsletter and on the Overbrook website and Facebook page. An article has been submitted to the Osage County Herald-Chronicle. And of course, an in-person thank-you is very much appreciated. Here are the people we can personally thank:
Jon Brady, Jim Koger, Aaron Traphagan, Danny Gamblin, Ross Miner, Hanna Smith and Ben Trotter from the City of Overbrook, Todd Goodyear and Ralph Guffey from G &G Excavating, Chris Warthen, Mike Musick and Jim Jolly Jr. from Osage County RWD5, the crew at Conklin Plumbing, Osage City Utility Workers who assisted through the Kansas Mutual Aid Program, Kansas Rural Water Association, Jim Foster, Jesse Heberling, Nathan Averill, Calvin Young, and Kansas Municipal Utilities. Special thanks go out to the Osage County Fire District 4 as they provided bottled water, non-potable water, filled non-potable tanks at Brookside, and allowed us to install a temporary pressure relief valve at their station. The Overbrook United Methodist Church provided non-potable water and bottled water for drinking. Thank you so much! We hope we did not leave anyone off the list. Many residents brought food and beverages to the tired and hungry crews. Children from the Attendance Center brought gift baskets and handwritten thank-you cards. They’re adorable. Stop by City Hall to see them.
Because of the large number of people involved in repairing the water system, in addition to the above mentioned ways to thank these heroes, individuals can make a monetary contribution to the city to be matched by Overbrook PRIDE and the City of Overbrook for community improvement projects (checks or cash can be delivered to city hall). A city-wide appreciation luncheon will also take place once the pandemic restrictions are lifted. We love you Overbrook!
Water issues of this magnitude should not occur again because Overbrook will begin replacing the old water system in 2021.
