Community Improvement Application Public Hearing Notice

The City of Overbrook, KS will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 6:00 pm in the Overbrook City Hall located at 401 Maple St, Overbrook, KS 66524, for the purpose of considering an application to be submitted to the Kansas Department of Commerce for Small Cities Community Development Block Grant funds under the Community Facilities: Large Grants category.
The specific project application to be discussed is a trail construction project, including approximately 1,970 square yards of 5 ft. wide concrete multiuse path, sidewalk ramps, storm sewer improvements, pavement markings, signage, grading, erosion control, seeding, and other related miscellaneous appurtenances. Project activities will generally occur along Santa Fe Trail Street (aka 4th Street) between the west city limits and the baseball fields, within the city limits of Overbrook, KS 66524. The estimated total project cost is approximately $475,000 with the grant request for $380,000 of the project costs. The City of Overbrook will provide all required matching funds for the grant application.
Other project proposals introduced at the hearing will be considered. Oral and written comments will be recorded and become part of the city’s CDBG Citizen Participation Plan. Reasonable accommodations will be made available to persons with disabilities. Requests should be submitted to the City Clerk by September 22, 2026.
